Invests in Advanced Manufacturing

LOUISVILLE, KY., May 11,
2009 – IRD LLC, maker of IRD Balancing soft-bearing balancing equipment
has expanded its manufacturing capabilities by purchasing a new MAZAK QTN 200-II
CNC Lathe. The new addition allows IRD to produce over 95% of its turned and
rotating parts in house.
The soft-bearing balancing
equipment built by IRD Balancing are precision machines that require very tight
tolerances to perform to specification. “We found that some of our suppliers
were having trouble meeting our requirements and this began affecting our
delivery dates. By bringing production into our facility, we now have complete
control over part quality and delivery,” says Daryl Stout, Production Manager at
IRD LLC. Jack Wright, IRD LLC General Manager adds, “We are extremely pleased
to be able to make this investment during a slowing economy. The new lathe will
help us meet our commitments of quality and delivery to our customers, and set
the foundation for our strategic initiatives.”
